Almost unexplained in the @Work State Of Mind report (via Forbes Insights/Gyro) is this powerful infographic, which is going to require some noodling. For example, what do the authors intend by ‘cause’ in the upper left hand, at the intersection of Personal Point Of View and Organizational Psychology? Is it cause, as in a just cause? It seems to be that it must.

This diagram was dangling almost as an appendix, with this as a caption:

This framework depicts the individual in the middle of the whole @Work State of Mind. The highlighted area in lower left is where most business marketing activities have been focused historically.

My dad’s battle with cancer is valiant. The last CT scans lead to the conclusion that his time is limited.

Gratefully, his sense of humor remains intact. Last night he had “steak and cake” for dinner since he figures all bets are off cholesterol-wise.

The human mind has reached out to the wider universe, and far beyond the time constraints of a human lifespan. We now know that the world limiting our ancestors’ brief lives is a tiny speck orbiting a small star among some hundred billion stars, in an average galaxy among some hundred billion galaxies. We know that the world began 4.6 billion years ago, and the universe 13.8 billion. We understand the evolutionary process that generated us and all DNA-based life.

xo-kettlebelle:

I found this somewhere, can’t remember where because I wrote it down and didn’t bookmark it, but I figured that some of you may be interested in this particular recipe if you are looking for an Oatmeal replacement because you are paleo! If you are not a fan of coconut, then this unfortunately…

there is a false nostalgia for primitive agriculture, based on limited transportation and the arduous conversion of raw materials into comestible commodities. Rarely is it admitted, much less emphasized, that cheap, quick food — including its embodiment through our sometimes obnoxious agribusiness corporations — is the single most important advance in human history.
